Dear Parents/Guardians,
This school year, we have several children with severe and possibly life threatening food allergies. The most common are allergies to peanuts, tree nuts (for example almonds, cashews, pecans, walnuts, etc.), and milk/ milk products. Eating, touching, or even smelling these food items may cause a serious reaction that requires emergency care.
Another health concern is the steady increase in the number of students diagnosed with insulin dependent diabetes. The consumption of cakes, candy, ice cream, or donuts may adversely affect the health of these children.
With this in mind, I ask that on days you supply treats for the students (birthdays, room parties, etc.), please bring a non-edible choice. I suggest books, bookmarks, pencils, notebooks, stickers, or erasers.
I am asking for your cooperation to help make sure each child attending Marion Jordan remains safe and healthy.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 847-963-5500.
Sincerely,
Dana Petersen
Principal
