2010 Mini-Course Registration

Starts Tuesday, Jan. 5th and ends on Tuesday, January 12th.

 

 

Mini-Courses are being held from February 1st through March 18th during recess and provide an alternative to playing outside during the winter months.   Participants are selected by lottery.   This year, there are two ways to register for your classes.

Both registration options will close on Tuesday, January 12th.  Please return your forms or complete your online submission by that date.

Please mark your choices in order of preference:  (1 thru 6), 1 being the most desired course.  Because of the limited space in each class, each student will be allowed to attend a maximum of 3 mini-courses, but can select up to 6 mini-courses to ensure getting into some of his/her preferred classes.

Learn about ocean animals and create a recycled craft.

 

Valentine's Craft

Have fun making a special Valentine craft.

 

Health & First Aid

Learn how to treat minor injuries.

 

Project Linus

Help create warm and comfortable blankets for sick or needy children. Support the Project Linus Foundation.

 

Letterboxing

Sharpen your treasure hunting, hiking, rubber stamping and compass reading skills with a letterboxing adventure.

 

Hip Hop Dance

Break, lock and pop to your favorite hip-hop music.  Learn basic hip-hop moves so you can freestyle on your own.

 

Scrapbooking/Support Our Troops

Get your creative side going and make cards to send to our soldiers.

 

Sudoku

Share Sudoku-solving techniques such as crosshatching, slicing and dicing, and penciling in. Children then apply these techniques to solve the Sudoku puzzles provided to the class.

 

Tea Party (1st-3rd)

Bring your lunch from home and we'll provide the hot chocolate and cookies.  Remember to bring your favorite stuffed animal or doll.

 

Creative Greeting Cards

Learn to make some fun crafts out of old greeting cards.  We'll make gift tags, new greeting cards and even a small treasure box.

 

Recycled Paper Crafts

Learn to make some fun crafts out of cardboard and paper.  We'll make book marks, bubble magnets and puzzles.

 

Chocolate Treat making

Make chocolate dipped spoons for Mom's coffee and a cocoa mix.

 

Beginner's Chess

Checkmate! Learn the basics of chess.

 

Legos

Build a small Lego project and play Legos games.

 

Therapy Dog

See how therapy dogs are trained to help people in need.

 

Tae Kwon Do

Basic Tae Kwon Do exercises.

 

Rocket making

Make a rocket from common household items.  Take it home to launch.

 

Bingo

Everyone likes a good game of B-I-N-G-O.

 

Simple Science

Conduct science experiments using basic ingredients found at home.

 

Craft for Boys

Create a craft especially designed with a boy in mind.

 

Cookie Decorating

Learn creative cookie decorating techniques.

 

Money Cents

Learn to save and manage your money.

 

Origami

Learn about origami, classic designs and create paper projects.

 

Sports Conditioning/Yoga Boys

Learn yoga techniques that help young athletes get in shape.

 

Paper Airplanes

Make multiple paper airplane designs and send them into flight.

 

Group Groove

Experience a fitness dance program that fuses club, urban and Latin dance styles with motivating chart topping hits and retro classic tunes.

 

Advanced Chess

Test your skills with other students at a more experienced playing level.
